Meet the owners of SENIUS: Asbjørn Jensen and Thomas Sehested
Asbjørn Jensen and Thomas Sehested have spent many years working side by side. Both trained as oven specialists; they traveled the world together installing and servicing process lines and industrial ovens.
From North America to the Middle East, from Europe to Asia, they carried tools through airports, solved problems in busy bakeries, and learned to depend on each other in every situation. Today they deliver high quality tunnel ovens to large-scale bakeries around the world.
From installers to owners
The story of SENIUS goes back to its founder, Henrik Senius, who established the company many years ago. For a long period, Asbjørn Jensen and Thomas Sehested worked closely with Henrik through their previous company, Flexmatic, combining oven expertise with hands-on project work around the world.
In 2018, Asbjørn and Thomas became co-owner of SENIUS, strengthening the partnership and setting the stage for the company’s next chapter. Just a few years later, in 2021, Asbjørn and Thomas took over full ownership, bringing SENIUS completely under their leadership.
Since then, their complementary strengths have shaped the company’s direction.
- Asbjørn Jensen serves as CEO and is responsible for sales. He spends much of his time with customers, identifying needs and ensuring that each project is based on clear communication and realistic expectations.
- Thomas Sehested leads Aftersales and Service. At SENIUS, service is not an afterthought but a strategic priority. Thomas often joins projects on-site himself – whether to assist during installations or to make sure a customer gets support without delay.
Under their leadership, SENIUS has grown steadily – from 8 employees in 2018 to 35 in 2025. In 2022, the company moved into larger production facilities in Tjele, and in 2025 SENIUS North America Inc. was established to support the growing U.S. market.
A team built on culture
Today, SENIUS has grown to 35 employees. Most are based at the headquarters in Tjele, Denmark, while a number of colleagues spend much of their time traveling to customers worldwide. But the size of the team is not what Asbjørn and Thomas emphasize when they describe SENIUS. What matters most is the people inside the company and the culture they carry with them.
“We are very deliberate when we choose new colleagues,” Asbjørn explains. “Skills are important, of course, but we also look for people with experience who fit into the way we want to work together. Down-to-earth, thorough, friendly, and professional. That’s the culture we want to protect.”
This culture shows itself in the way SENIUS employees interact with each other and with customers. Whether someone is designing ovens, welcoming customers in the test bakery, or installing them on the other side of the world, the approach is the same: straightforward, professional, and solution-oriented.
“Our customers often say they appreciate how approachable we are,” Thomas adds. “We are not the kind of company that hides behind complicated processes. We believe in being present, listening, and working things through together.”
Close to customers worldwide
Even though SENIUS is based in a small town in Denmark, the company has always been global. Asbjørn and Thomas still spend a good part of their time visiting bakeries around the world, staying close to customers and seeing firsthand how ovens perform in daily production. Many of their employees do the same, making sure the company never loses touch with the realities of bakery production.
Our closeness to customers has helped SENIUS build long-term partnerships. Many bakeries return again and again – not only for new ovens but also for service, upgrades, and advice. Trust is a recurring theme in conversations with both owners and customers.
“We are proud of the ovens we make,” says Asbjørn, “but even more proud when customers come back years later because they know we will stand behind our work. That is the kind of recognition that means the most to us.”
Rooted in trust
Looking back, both owners agree that the years they spent traveling as oven installers shaped the way they run SENIUS today. The trust they built back then has become a natural part of the company’s DNA.
“We learned early on that nothing works without trust,” Thomas says. “Trust between us, our colleagues, and with customers. If people know they can rely on you, everything else becomes easier.”
That philosophy continues to guide the company as it grows. With 35 dedicated employees, a global customer base, and ovens running in bakeries across continents, SENIUS remains rooted in the same modest idea: do the job properly, be present, and build relationships that last.
More than machines
For Asbjørn and Thomas, SENIUS has always been about more than machines. Reliable ovens are essential, but equally important is the partnership with customers. This balance of technical quality and human trust has become the core of the company.
From the beginning, their focus has been clear: not to become the biggest player, but to be the most reliable and professional partner that bakeries world-wide can trust.
